Congrats to the 12U Brunswick Blitz team on their 2nd place finish in this weekend’s Chase Tournament in Glens Falls.
Many thanks to Manager Eric Buckley, Coach Lisa Buckley, and Coach Ed Schlederer for supporting this talented group of girls!
It’s an exciting time for Brunswick Girls Softball! We are inching ever closer to opening day, which will be Saturday April 15th at 9am. As we have done in past years, picture night will be held prior to opening day and will include the distribution of uniforms. In respect for Good Friday, which is Friday the 14th, we have decided to hold picture night on Thursday, April 13th at the Brunswick Community Center on Key’s Lane.
The board has been working hard getting prepared for the upcoming season. There will be some exciting changes this year and I am pleased to be able to share one of them with you all now.
In past years, the minors division was comprised of girls aged 9-12 years old. This wide of a range in age posed some challenges as there were potentially large differences in skillsets between the players. Because of the differing skills, there were also safety concerns for the younger players. Beginning this year, the minors division will be split into two different levels, Minors AA and Minors AAA. Outlined below are the differences in each level. Making this change better aligns 10U and 12U rules with standard ASA guidelines.
|Minors AA||Minors AAA|
|Ages: 9-10 year olds||Ages: 11-12 year olds|
|Pitching distance: 35 feet||Pitching distance: 40 feet|
|Ball size: 11 inch||Ball Size: 12 inch|
At our most recent meeting, managers were selected and will be contacted this weekend. Managers will be selecting their teams on Wednesday, March 21st during the 2017 draft which will also be held at the Brunswick Community Center on Keys Lane.
Thanks to all of you who have contacted us to assist with field crew and fundraising. It is greatly appreciated! If there is an interest in assisting with the concession stand, please let us know!

About a month ago a local family lost their home and all belongings to a devastating fire. The mother works at Duncan’s Dairy Bar. The Red Cross has been helping the family of 8 but their help is temporary.
We would like to ask that if at all possible, would you please bring a warm clothing item, Toy, Cash or a gift card to walmart or target so we can help this family have a happy Christmas?

I am truly excited about the upcoming year. As the newest group of executive board members makes a plan for the 2017 season, I believe we have a great opportunity to improve upon the groundwork that has been laid by our former presidents and I am proud to be among their ranks. A big thank you goes out to last year’s president, David Robilotto. Dave’s dedication to the league was unwavering and I sincerely thank him for all he has done to ensure all girls have the opportunity to play softball.
The above mentioned group of individuals have been involved in the league, at varying levels, for a number of years and I can truly say, this is a great group of people. We will work as a team to ensure the league continues to grow, but most importantly improve. I look forward to working side by side this group over the next year.
This past week, the Brunswick Girls Softball League held the annual election for executive board members. It my distinct pleasure to announce this year’s officers.
